Our Faculty was established as the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on January 16, 2012, within Terzioğlu Campus with 11 departments (Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Department of Economics, Department of Business Administration, Department of International Relations, Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Department of Public Finance, Department of Health Management, Department of Social Work, Department of Econometrics, Department of International Trade and Finance, and Department of Management Information Systems). This establishment was based on the decision of the Council of Ministers dated January 16, 2012 (No: 2012/72734) and published in the Official Gazette No. 28,277 on March 8, 2012.
In the 2013–2014 academic year, the Department of Political Science and Public Administration admitted its first undergraduate students (daytime program). In the 2014–2015 academic year, the Department of Economics (daytime program) and the Department of Political Science and Public Administration (evening program) admitted first-year undergraduate students. In the 2015–2016 academic year, the Department of Economics (evening program) admitted first-year students. Additionally, in the 2016–2017 academic year, 62 students were admitted to the Department of Business Administration (daytime program). In the 2017–2018 academic year, the Department of Business Administration (evening program) admitted 62 students, thus initiating evening education as well.
By the decision of the Council of Ministers dated February 16, 2016 (No: 2016/8555), pursuant to Article 30 of Law No. 2809 dated March 28, 1983, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, affiliated with the Rectorate of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, was renamed as the Faculty of Political Sciences. This decision was published in the Official Gazette No. 29,678 on April 8, 2016.
In the 2016–2017 academic year, the admission of first-year students to the Department of Business Administration (daytime program) was approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and education formally commenced. The Department of International Relations, offering education entirely in English, admitted its first students in the 2018–2019 academic year. As of the 2019–2020 academic year, the Department of Business Administration initially transitioned to a 30% English-medium program, followed by a full transition to 100% English-medium education, which it continues to deliver at present.
By the decisions of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) dated June 8, 2016 and June 15, 2016, the Master’s programs with thesis in Local Governments, Urban and Environmental Policies and in International Business were established within our Faculty. Graduate student admission began in the spring semester of the 2016–2017 academic year. Subsequently, the Master’s program in Local Governments, Urban and Environmental Policies was renamed as the Master’s Program in Political Science and Public Administration (with thesis). Beginning with the 2018–2019 academic year, the Non-thesis Master’s Program in Political Science and Public Administration (Evening Program) and the Doctoral Program in Political Science and Public Administration were opened. In addition, within the Department of Economics, the Master’s Program in Economic Policy (with thesis) was initiated. Similarly, Non-thesis Master’s Program in International Business (Evening Program) and the Doctoral Program in International Business were launched.
